Catfishing the Rivers (Calc & Sabine)
I keep seeing fish on my sidescan and I'm convinced that they have to be catfish. |

I'm almost sure this can work, and I'm eager to try it. But more specific guidance regarding kind of location to set up at, time of year, and baits would be helpful.
Please post back if you try it. |

When i fish out of white oak i see a few people fishing for catfish with rod and reel. Most of them i see are around the mouth of bayou serpent and the calcasieu. I caught some blues by accident one day while trying to catch white perch on live shiners.

My buddy catches them off his wharf on Goos Ferry Rd. He uses Oscar Mayer wieners.

Take a pack of cheep weenies last batch I made was $.89 bar S on sale wack them up into pieces put em in a empty ice cream container. Top em off with vinegar and add a couple packs of strawberry koolaid and lots of garlic powder. Put the plastic lid on and shake em up. Park em in the fridge for a couple weeks when ya open the fridge if ya think bout it shake em up they keep forever. Every time ya go fishing for anything put a few pieces in a zip loc bag and bring em along fishing bass or sacs fore ya leave tie a piece of pickled weenie on ya hook its killer Cat fish bait and costs only a penny or 2 a bait. It keeps indefinately in the fridge improves with age and I get bored grab a few pieces ride to the river or bayou and almost always catch supper in a short time nffin like fresh caught fried catfish.
