I have no problem with the increase.....if the money is used as it was stated to be used.
Not sure if that will happen or not, but I guess time will tell. What does that put a whole fishing license at now? Something like $21? |

The actual bill passed, or did it just make it through committee?

What is the bill #? Is it HB1082? If so, it was considered in Committee today. Hasn't been updated since that.

HB 1082, which would raise annual saltwater license fees for Louisiana residents to $13, passed out of the House Natural Resources Committee Wednesday and now heads to the full House for consideration.

Great! Skip one days cheeseburger and fries for lunch and buy a license! $13 is a bargain to fish in Sportsmans Paradise!

A few points:
The bill does not dedicate the funds to research, but rather to "research and conservation." Thus it could be spent on anything that could be construed as "conservation" including enforcement efforts, saltwater barriers, construction of levees and weirs, freshwater diversion to rebuild marsh, etc. The bill includes the 136% increase for resident licenses, but no increase for non-resident licenses. This is too bad. It would be nice to see a proportionately similar increase in non-resident license fees. Why should residents bear a 136% increase while non-residents keep paying the same amount? I expect the bill will pass, since it both has CCA support and folks in Baton Rouge sort of feel guilty about raiding the artificial reef fund. |

I would comment on this, but either way my hunting and fishing licenses are free for the rest of my life...... Man I love these VA benefits!

Get a lifetime hunting and fishing license, before they quit selling them.
