Angry tragic loss

Found this deer Friday on our deer ranch in Texas. Guess he misjudged his jump! Damn fine deer in 2 years! Hate to see this waste. If we would have found him earlier we could have salvaged the meat. He jumped the fence sometime between 6:30 PM Thursday night until we found him around 11:30 Friday AM. Was in low 40s thurs pm but warmed up to near 65 by noon. Hated to take a chance on getting bad meat so we let the buzzards have their fill. Saved the head to make european mount for the camp.

Waiting on biologist to tell us whether it was a 2.5 or 3.5 yo buck. I think 3.5 but he will confirm next week when he gets the teeth.

Latt..... with those temperatures, the meat should have still been good, if the Buck had been shot.

But ..... not sure how the meat would be effected after the Buck struggled to get free and then sat out for many hours. The Buck could have been alive for much of that time before you found him.
