Saturday I had Trent and Alexis Langlois along with good buddy Brent Burgess. With an early start to beat the crowds, we launched at Jug's and went south. This was the first day returning back to Dularge after a two week stint in Cocodrie. The reports from the day before in Dularge indicated the trout bite was out of this world and my crew was fired up. We got to the hot spot and wouldn't you know it we got cut off by a googan. This big dummy almost hit my brand new boat with his trying to beat me to the good spot. He got an earful. No worries because as soon as I dropped the Xi5 and the baits touched the water we had some hammers peeling drag. I caught the first fish and dropped my rod because I had to take off fish. Everyone was hooked up instantly!!! We laid a wack on em hot n heavy till we got to 36 and then the bite died. That's when the lull began. It was only 7:00 when the bite died and wouldn't you know it that lasted till 12:30!!! For over 5 hrs nobody was catching anything to speak of in Dularge. Chatter on the radio indicated a few boats were chipping away at fish but they were never turned on so to speak. We made a few moves that didn't pan out, so we hunkered down and waited em out. Finally, around noon I got word that a hot bite was on. We packed up and hauled tail to the location and proceeded to put a smack on the trout. Two at a time, every cast as soon as the baits touched the water. We had our limit in 45 minutes. What a day!
