Default Ducks not Deer

tried my hand at duck hunting, normally i hunt four legged critters but always wanted to try duck or goose hunting, got a call weds night saying we could go thurs morning, luckily being i hunt the basin i had a pair of waders, the birds werent flying to good, lot of birds flying high, lot of pintail but they were wise, but we were able to get a few to come in range, geese didn't even think about coming in range, wasted a few shells on some spoonies that must have had bullet proof vests on, at least i had fun and got some birds on my first ever duck hunt

thanks bj, i was kind of pumped that mallard came in behind us by his self, dropped him with one shot, big grey came in with a flock of protected birds but they passed him just in time to give me a clear shot, and i dropped two with one shot but had to chase one down to finish it

any idea what that little black duck is with the blue bill? it came in with another just like it flying low, i thought i missed but kept watching them when it crashed about 50yds after the shot

Awesome hunt brother. Some good looking birds. I could be wrong but I think the black one with the blue beak is a scaup some people call them dos gris.

They can be good. We usually just pull the breasts and make duck poppers out of em.
