Default Dolphin/Mahi Mahi Out of Calcasieu

How close to, or should I say, how from shore, can you catch dolphin out of Calcasieu? I've seen some King and Spanish mackerel, cobia, barracuda, blue fish, triple tail, and some other fish as close as the 9 mile rigs south out of Cameron pass. I was wonder how much further to get a little dolphin action.

When it gets hot and there is a rip around 20 miles out or so there will be some chickens on the rip. I’m my experience they are consistently 40 miles or so South of Cameron.

I've seen the same as skeeter. But generally when it's hot I would be prepared for 50 miles and hope for 25

I've caught them as close as 5 miles out of pecan island, but it was probably very rare occasion. They were on a giant rip that was close to shore with beautiful water on the other side.

Same here, but only very late summer.

We were finding good grass at 80 miles. We had 78 two weeks ago and 28 yesterday. There?s a lot of mahi-mahi we just got tired of catching them. Here is a pic of some of the bigger ones
