Default 9-3-09 Calcasieu River

Went to a lil spot, first cast into some shad BAM, good fish..decided i would keep my fish 11 inches or over today, went to string him up, jumped out...no problem..went back to fishing caught 5 more and lost 2 good fish at the boat. The fish in the stringer pics/fish pics, are 11 inches and 2 12 inchers.

Ended the day with 5 fish to filet..I love catching me some schooling bass

How are you catching bass in the West Fork? I went the other day and did the same thing...all I caught were redfish. Must've caught 30 rats, had a big one straighten my hooks and put a 25 incher in the boat.

I was at the first pipe, them reds were bustin the shad from one side of the river to the other 100 yds up and down river. Caught 2 little bass and 1 ladyfish too. Crankbaits, rattletraps, and spoons.

ok, with this north wind blowing, river activity as far as shad/busting has been LOW...when you can find shad right now, bass are there...if you do find the shad, fish like you would for specks under birds...stay away and FAST...don't put your fish on stringer/ice chest...throw em in the bottom of the boat and keep going!
