Default Krotz Springs 12-31-10

Me and my cousin decided to go for something different and try to catch a few bass in some winter patterns. Got to the lake around 7:30 and started figuring them out. Caught a few on spinnerbaits, then decided to try something on the bottom. Pulled out my favorite soft plastic for the area and it wasn't long until I hooked 3 good fish that i didn't get to the top. Finally i got one to the top and it was a choupique, which I was excited by since they start to move onto beds soon.

Moved to another spot where i thought would be good but was greeted with stained water. I thought to myself that this may be good since stained water holds warmth better. Sure enough we got into schools after schools of 2-3lb fish. The bite got crazy to where they'd have 3-4 fish come up with the one hooked one. And inbetween schools we caught fish at everything that matched our pattern for both bass and choupique. It was just the perfect day, there wasn't one spot that went by that matched our pattern and didn't produce a fish. The bass seemed to be holding on underwater structure about 4-7ft deep and also warm flats. The choupique were holding mainly along banks with very sticky structure in about 2-4ft of water.

Anyways we caught between 60-70 bass and about 40+ were 2lbs and better. We also brought home 6 big choupique, but i know we hooked more than 20 easy. Best trip I've ever had in that area and probably caught more keepers this one day than i did my whole life.

Btw we threw all the bass back. It is awesome to see that this area still has tons of fish and the hurricanes didn't tear them up too bad. I just wish i could say the same for the sacalait, since we've tried other places in the area with little luck. We didn't try for them here though, so maybe they have some.

Will post pictures later.

Yeah I fished the butte la rose canal for a few hours. Caught two keepers on a spinnerbait and 3 small ones on a paca craw.

Not too bad. Our bigger fish came on a spinnerbait too. That paca craw is a hell of a bait too boy. I've caught some fish on those things. I found another bait i've been catching on called itza bug. The bass in Indian Creek were smoking them.
