Default Bassin'

A buddy and myself caught 14 of these in a local bar pit off the Pearl River this afternoon. Last Thursday, while I was doin' back strokes in Big Lake, he landed his personal best, a 22 1/2" 10.99 lb. pig. It was a quick but relaxin' afternoon.

All the fish were roed up so we cut 'em loose. Odie caught his on a Hank Parker spinnerbait and mine were taken on that non-trout-ketchin' Bomber. We had several roll the bait over and never touch it. Sure was fun, though.

My buddy was throwin' somethin' by ZOOM called a Vibra Craw (you can see it in the pics). I don't know if he was fishin' it right or not...just draggin' it through the water...but he hammered 'em. I was throwin' different spinnerbaits and could not buy a hit until I used one of those things as a trailer. These are some of the healthiest bass I've ever seen....short and fat.

Default Tried 'em again

Just to change up, I thought we would try some live minnows today. For 2 hours, we soaked some of the finest, big, fat minnows you ever saw and didn't get one taker. Gave up and fought the wind to beat the grass beds again with the spinnerbaits and caught 14 fatties in 1 hour. Geaux figger! River is fixin' to come back up so it should get better if it stays a couple of weeks.
