Default 3/20/12 Houston River

Went back this morning for 4 hours on the river. I ended up keeping 16 male black crappie (8 to 10in) and a goggle eye. I picked up 8 right off the bat where I was yeterday. Then they turned off. I then fished up river all the to the fork way past HWY 27 by Ethienne Daigle Rd. I picked up a few small ones here and there none were worth keeping. Fish were in pockets out of the current right against trees. On the way back I stopped at my honey hole and picked up 8 more keepers. My buddy followed me and he got 1 crappie. All where caught on Courtney white jigs at 14 inches in 4 to 6 ft of 74 degree water. River was high as you can see in the photos.

I left as soon as I heard thunder. Started raining as I was getting on I10. No lie it took 5 trips scratching to figure them out. I found a few spots that next week I am bringing my canoe to get in the woods. With this high water they have to be stacked up in there. The fish are just starting to bed cuz last week they weren't there. Plus all fish were males.

Thanks for the comments everyone. Those fish never made the freezer. Me and my boys ate them broiled with a lemon butter sauce.
