Default Leaders???

Do any of you guys out there use leaders when you fish inshore? If so, what line do you use and what knot? I am old school mono (because I hate braid getting stuck in my reels) but I have been having a few line breaks on my hook sets lately so I was thinking I might try a leader.

I use a shock leader, if i'm using 12-14lb. test I'll add about 35-40lb. florocarbon. I use only mono also. I also change my line pretty often, buying line in bulk helps with this.

when we go after the big mommas (reds and specks) if we use our live bait we use bout a 2 1/2 ft fluro 40 lb leader. and we lose very few. the pictures that i have posted in the past with ice chests full of reds and speck is what we catch

12-14lb mono with 30lb big game leader about 6". Got tired of break offs or retying due to fraying from teeth.

24 inch long 20 pound fluoro, blood or surgeon's knot to 10 lb clear mono mainline, loop knot to connect the lure, sometimes i use quick connects. (but i have my doubts about them)

I assume it was the knot, being as the fluro was gone, my buddy was next to me and all I could do is hold my rod over my head and curse...

Why you need a leader?

A true friend would have held your rod while you curse and maybe even cursed with you.
