While I'm not from there, I would think Lafayette shooters could point you in the right direction. I love that place lol.

Unless it's an older gun that is being refurbished, I would have it Duracoated or Cerakoted. Way more durable.

Thanks Matt, I might get the 22 dura coated. The shotgun was my grandpa's That he left me. I want to keep it original.

Understand this, as soon as you re-blue a shotgun...it is no longer original, and you will lose value. If you just want it to look good with no intention of getting the best price for it later...that's a different story.

I have no intention of ever selling it. It was passed down to me. That gun just killed a lot of birds and spent a lot of days in the blind and needs a fresh coat.

Good deal then, I also have a very old 12 DB shotgun (black powder) that was handed down to me that belonged to my great Grandfather...circa late 1890's-early 1900's. It's not in shooting condition-breech is loose. I really need to find someone who can make it shootable again. Maybe someone here knows someone in the area that is reputable that does this?

i had a gun cerakoted and it came out good. I let my old guns patina though as long as rust is minimal.

Might be worth talking to the guys at Custom Gun Works on Johnston. They have done work for me before which was always very good quality.

They closed up shop. That building is now a cabinet shop for Doug Ashy.

Man, that's a shame. When did that happen? Not working in Lafayette everyday, I guess I miss some things!

If I was going to have a double shot gun restored that meant something to me I'd send it to http://www.turnbullmfg.com

They do amazing work.
