Default Precision Long Range Bolt Action Rifle Work

My daughter has her mind set to get a couple of Rem 700 actions rebarrelled to support her benchrest and long range shooting interests. Who can you recommend who has personally done work for you in the I-10 or I-12 corridor or close by to BR/LC/Hammond/etc?

We don't mind paying $700-$1000 for a quality rebarrel job, but we want it to be right (accurate) the first time, and we want a smith who specializes in bolt action accuracy rather than a jack of all trades or a pistol or shotgun guy who also installs rifle barrels.

its a little off the path but the guys at bowie in natchez MS have experience with accurate bolt actions. I have a friend that lives near there and they do a lot of tinkering with re-loading and building rifles. My friend and I both shoot .338 lapua's.

Thanks. Nachez is closer than Shreveport or Jackson, which is as close as we've gotten good recommendations before your vote for the guys in Natchez. What's your favorite bullet in the .338 Lapua and where do you stretch its legs?

havent got a chance to let it breath yet...my podna has some property we can get some distance on. My goal is to take this gun to a mile one day to see if im capable of making a shot that long. Im using 250gr FMJ LB Lapua ammo. A bit pricey but the most accurate out the box without having to load my own ammo. A friend of mine also recommended GA Precision rifles, it would have to be shipped and take little longer but they are one of the best bolt action rifle builders in the states. My buddy has a 338 GA Precision and his grouping is unreal.

The easiest, though, will be John in Natchez.

I know its out of your way but there is a guy in Woodworth that specialises in building long range rifles and man he puts together some great shooting guns. Fellows name is Tommy Butler. He has a small shop by his house.

Two of my dads hunting rifles have been to Hill Country Rifles and they will shoot half inch groups at 200, so I could only imagine what they could do with a bench rifle. They're located near San Antonio but I figured I'd throw it out there.
I've heard that Acadiana Gunworks in Scott would be specializing in long range guns, maybe give them a look.

Ted @ Ritten Precision 985-665-7961
he cut and recrowned the barrel on my Tikka Super Varmint on a reccomendation of a member from another forum i belong to. The Tikka Super V's are impossible to find because: A) very few were ever imported into the US and B) are no longer made so I wanted the utmost care taken and he did a superb job... the rifle is an absolute LASER and would not hesitate to send him more work or reccomend him.. you can read more feedback about his work on bayoushooter.com
