Default Best trebles for inshore plugs

I have some lures that i will need to replace the hooks on. what is everyone using on topwaters, jerkbaits, mirrolures, etc.......?

i need some that won't rust or bend easily

who makes the hooks used on corky lures? i like those.

I'm glad you did this. Was thinking of this the other day. I bought some VMC vandium (Red) last summer. Seem to be holding up well. No rust. Went to get some more & couldnt find any. So I settled for Eagle Claw (Red) No problems yet. Hint... the corky's take a #4 treble. I put #2 on one & it sinks too fast.

From what I have learned be it salt or fresh water the first thing you need to do when you buy a lure with trebels is upgrade them before you ever tye one on. At least one size bigger on the hood and according to the latest BASS studies go to the red hooks... up to a 35% increase in strikes with red hooks and your catch ratio will increase as well with wider gapped hooks. Ever lure I own has oversized red hooks and I have changed the opinion of many friends over the last couple of years as well. I truly believe I have caught fish that I would not have with factory hooks. I hang on to a lot more short strikes for sure. If its money your worried about on the upgrade Mustad makes a great wide gap red treble that I have on most lures....I also have some Yo-zuri trebles on some as well they are a little pricey but nice gap and shank length.

i always used red hooks for bass fishing, makes a difference for sure with bass.

had pretty good luck from time to time with red jig heads in saltwater.
