No responces........because there really is not any place, unless you pay a membership.
The nearest [free] range open to the public that I know of is at Sherburne WMA. Once you leave Lake Charles, it is 1.5 hour drive to get there. It is a fairly nice range [25, 50, 75,and 100 yards distaces], but this time of the years it gets a lot of use. There is also a separate pistol and bow ranges. |

There is a recreational range on Fort Polk. Four dollars and you can shoot all day. The range is 500 yards long. They have benches to shoot off of and chairs to sit on. They also have target holders but some of those are getting shot up pretty bad. My son and I go there at least every two weeks.
Send me a PM if you need more info. Dan |

There is a place in lake Arthur. Best place I've been to. He's got several target out to 400 yards. Gun vices to dial in precisely. He's got spotting scopes set up at each vice to see where you hit. Hearing protection and comfortable shooting chairs. His name is Wilton derouen he charges $20 per gun. He's got targets also. It's been a while since I've been. He may have targets farther than 400 yards now. When you leave there your rifle is on the gnats azz.

I just went to Wilton's yesterday. It's top notch for $20. And if you're not careful, he'll sight your rifle in for you.
