Default Hackberry Fishing Help

I am new to the area, I am planning on taking my kids out to Hackberry this Saturday. Any suggestions on places/areas I should try fishing? I am a little limited in that I am fishing out of a 18x54 aluminum boat with a 35 gator tail on it. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Big Lake can get dangerous if the winds kick up. Its relatively a shallow lake so a good strong wind can cause havoc on smaller boats. Your 18ft should be ok, just keep an eye on the winds. As for areas, that really depends on where you plan to launch from. I can tell you to try Joes cove, but if your launching from CP that's a bit of a haul on a GT35

thanks, my kids are 9, 7 and 4 so super long boatrides are probably not a great idea. I don't really care where we launch from, I am kind flying by the seat of my pants on this one. we just decided to fish over there last night. and most of the places to stay are already booked up so we will probably be staying in a hotel in LC friday night.

Go launch at Dugas Landing in Hackberry and fish Joe's Cove. Not a long run, protected waters and good fishing spot.
