Default Shimano Curado 150 DC

Anyone try the new Shimano Digital Control reels yet? Watched some Youtube videos. Just wondering if it's hype or actually works well.

I have the Calcutta Te dc 250 and it works great at preventing backlash. I’ve probably only had 5 backlashes since I bought it many years ago. And this year was the first one I had that required me to cut some string off. Now I do have an issue with the drag not holding while in my rod rack. String just seems to creep out from wind catching it. Works great on fish so idk why it does that

I have one and it's nice. Depending on what your throwing it does cast much further then a traditional caster like an E7. I too watched vids before the the purchase and thought it was truly hands off casting. It is not. Although it does very well for the casting portion I have found you still have to thumb the spool upon splashdown. It simply doesn't stop the action fast enough.

Little follow up after fishing with my DC for a while. Mainly i was throwing top dawgs and big ole midcoast outcast corks. It does very well in most situations. where i notice it'll overwork the system is if i try and throw a very jerky cast. the quick sudden action doesn't give the system enough time react. Kind of like on splashdown. When it does backlash it's very minimal. With a couple tugs your back in business.
It reallly does cast pretty dang far. I would say on par with my spinning setups.
