FlagUS Great Redfish/Trout Bite

A beautiful morning on the DU! The weather is great and the fishing is as good as it gets right now. I fished with Mitch Wilbanks, Larry "Frfog" Young , James Young and their buddy Roger. The guys had redfish on their mind as Mitch knew we have been whacking the reds and catching limits every day for the past 5 weeks. Lake Mechant was flat as the wind was calm so we spent the first couple hours looking for trout. After a beautiful sunrise the trout came alive and we found the fish feeding like no tomorrow. Mitch and his crew got the fish going with the always productive LSU chubs. The "chicken on a chain" Bayou Chub was a close second. We really hit the mother load of trout as the guys were swinging in trout from all directions on the double rigs. When you bring fish in the boat 8 at a time it don't take long to fill the box. By 8:00 we had caught 100 trout and left them biting. We could have fully limited out with 125 fish but we were hoping to duplicate the great trout bite with an equally great redfish slam. The reds were stacked too and we quickly iced up our 25 fish in less than an hour. The crew enjoyed reeling in reds 4 at a time as they were mean and hungry! The tails of the reds were bright blue in color and it was an incredible fast and furious bite. We caught our 5 fish over the 27 inch mark and the remainder were anywhere between 20-26 inches. Just not many places you can catch over 100 trout and all the reds you want by 9:15 in the morning! Our great fall fishing is just getting started and October fishing "Down In Dularge" is some of the best that you'll find anywhere in south Louisiana! Good luck fishing.
