you are holding the fish close to your body as to represent its true size. everyone knows real fisherman strain themselves to hold it out in front |

Ha, we did have a net I guess I am just not used to using one. I will have to become quicker with it. I have caught quite a few big bass but I always just lip them, I will know next time.

after seeing all my pics i realized i didn't know what i was dong. every picture i am covering the fish's face with my hand. that first fish it took me a minute just to get in ready to take the picture. i am happy i can catch the fish though i will learn how to hold them in due time.

How do you like that remote controlled trolling motor?

i was discussing that with my cousin yesterday. I like the hands free aspect of it but I would like if there was a handle on the trolling motor itself so i could just reach down and turn it one way or the other. yesterday the wind was blowing pretty good so i was working the trolling motor the whole day. there was a few times where i was trying to work my bait and run the motor and before i knew it we were turned around or running into the smooth cord grass. i think once i get used to it i will like it better but for now having to turn it left or right with the remote it a little pain in the butt. sorry for the rant

Sorry to say, I was kind of expecting that response my friend. I once thought about getting one, then started talking to guys that have them. Most will pay you to take them because of that very same reason. Thanks for sharing, I will stick to my 36V - 101# hand job!

Nice job bro. Be happy that your first time down you came home with your lower unit. And or didnt get stuck. Ive seen some nasty things happen out there. The trout are more out towards the gulf if you decide to try that next time. In october the fish move in and that is when you can really learn some stuff and put together a great box of fish really close to the launch. Literally launch your boat and put down the trolling motor and start catching. Fishing right now is kinda tough as the trout are starting to scatter a lil bit, Very hit or miss. You can catch a hundred in one spot one day and and none the next. But the river is falling and is cleaning up just nicely and we fixin to unleash the furry on their butts here real soon. Some of the best fishing down here is fixing to happen. Nothing like catching trout, reds, bass, hybrid stripers, blue cats and flounders all in the same spot.

i work for LSU and we go to the marsh on a weekly basis. that is the only reason i was able to keep the boat in one piece. knowing what to look for helped me to keep the boat together and not have to get out and push. we did use the push pole once or twice but that boat is perfect for shallow water really didn't have much trouble. knock on wood i can keep that going

also thanks for the info, i am looking forward to going back and trying some other areas. we caught all the fish in two little cuts. started the morning in the cut right out from the locks literally a few hundred yards out and another not far from that. went all around and tried a few other places that we could get into (a lot of shallow places out there) went back to the same two cuts on the way out and picked up the last of the fish. thank goodness for those two cuts
