I'm headin to Grand Chenier Thursday night, gonna hit the marsh real early Friday morning for a bit and see if any birds are around. Seen a good amount of spoonies and some greys a couple weeks ago, had just enough water to pole to my teal blind. This was also mid day/afternoon so hopefully we got some teal in the morning come Saturday..

Did you know Gw teal have been clocked at speeds in excess of 100mph? Interesting duck fact. Not trying to be a smarta** just thought about it when u said 30mph.

Man that's crazy. Only bad reports except one I've heard came from here. Everyone I've talked to with exception of 2 or three have been ricefields but even the few marsh reports have been good. That's crazy. What time y'all making rounds?

This may ease people's minds. The only spot I've heard they didn't see any birds was intracoastal but we never see birds there when we work on blinds. But come opening day they thick.

This is my .02.... We are obviously alot drier than past few yrs. so marshes will have less water and farmers may not flood fields unless they absolutely have to bc it costs so much. With that said if teal have a harder time finding water with food nearby(marsh/crawfish ponds) it's a no brainer for them to Hang out where they kill two birds with one stone and have water and food in a ricefield. They just hanging out there. When ppl scare them out with 4wheelers and shot fire off. They gonna go to next field boom shot at again then they go to marsh and boom everybody happy but the teal....

I have been out to my field north of Kaplan... saw some a couple weeks ago and this past weekend saw just a few. Gotta head out there in the morning so I plan on getting out there before sunrise to see whats flying around in the morning... maybe they are moving then.

Went bushhog some levees this morning before work. Did not see a single one. I predict it being slow opening day. Sunday should be better once people get in the fields and make em move around.

I went out to our field in Kaplan at day break and saw more teal than in the evenings. I wasn't too optimistic until this morning.... saw 7 flocks of teal. Smallest flock had 4 and the largest looked to have 15-20!

There ya go! That's all it takes for limits! Hope you have a great opener! Ppl in Arkansas didnt have a "great" opener last weekend. Prolly because they were already in route to Louisiana...
