Default Heads up on Potential Deer (all types) importing regulations

LDWF is taking comments on proposed regulations that would ban the importing in the state everything but de-boned meat, antlers and finished mounts. The way I read the proposed regulations, all of us that hunt out of state (Arkansas, Mississippi, Texas, etc.) would have to de-bone all of our meat, and couldn't bring back a trophy to let a local taxidermist mount it, as that would violate the regulations.

While I realize this is likely in response to CWD showing up in certain parts of Texas and Arkansas, these are broad regulations that, unless I'm missing something, would put a serious hit on LA taxidermists and require you do all you trimming out of state. Check them out at this link- comments are due in August:

I am not sure what good this does??????

If you take the meat off the bone....
Take all the meat off the hide........
Take the skin off the Trophy bucks head....

It sounds like the only part of the deer that you can not bring back to Louisiana is the bones. But you can bring back the skull and antlers.

So if CWD can live after the deer is killed, but you can still bring all parts of the deer [except the bones].... how is this different from bringing back the whole deer?

What did I miss when I read the LDWF information.
