Real question

Some of you guys might be able to answer this honestly.

Those of you who have fished both TX and LA please answer only.

Where would you say the overall fishing (size and quantity(asume a 15" limit)) is better and why?

Hey I was being serious. I have never fished LA, and really don't understand how it could be that much better. Does anyone on here fish them both fairly often?

Lowsianna bay fishing for #'s is unbeatable, their shrimping is better, oystering is better, fishing is better.....reason is simple, a gazillion acres of estuaries, lot's of fresh water, now Texas grows bigger trout because our salinity levels are higher in most bays, especially down south, but if ya' want your pole bent consistenly........go to Lowsiannna'..........

I just got back from Matagorda and Trinity and fish Texas pretty regualrly. Texas overall has bigger trout 12lb. + , but Calcasieu has way more fish in the between region. Again this is all circumstancial, who you are fishing with and weather conditions play a big part. Baffin Bay in February & March is hard to beat b/c there are monsters potentially lingering around, and I have caught my two biggest fish there in 99' & 2000. But the Calcasieu bite for big tout is on 12 months a year, they are just patterened dramitically different throughout. I absolutely love Big Lake and would not want to call any where else my fishing home....

Sure, Texas has more big trout than Louisiana simply because there's nobody there that can catch 'em.

Tons of fish, major meat hauls with generous limits and slot size... there are trophies in the water there no doubt but here is the real deal on size comparisons.

I've fished both and I am here to tell you that in all honesty, Louisiana fishing is far superior. Here's why: More habitat by FAR. Also, much less fishing pressure.

Where I fish here in the SLP area, it's a zoo on the weekends. When the conditions are right, just on my little bayou I'll probably see 15 boats, and just sitting on my porch and looking around the bays, I've seen as many as 30-35 boats. Weekdays are much better, but you'll still see 10-15 boats out there running around.

In La., I fish out of Empire in Plaquemines Parish. On a weekday you're lucky to see 1 or 2 other boats on our bayou/bay. Weekends get busy too and you might see 5 or 6 boats. That's a big difference between the 2 states.

Take it to the bank, La. fishing is better. Now if you're just after one trophy trout, I'd say you're more likely to find it in Texas, probably in Baffin Bay.
