Default Houston River 8/12

Got out a little after 9. Water was high and full of trash ( even though visibility was still pretty good). Started off for bass but couldn?t really find any in my usual spots.

Just one small one on a brush hog. Hooked another later on with a crappie jig. There was a small group of schooling bass hanging around a bait ball.

Found a few crappie though. Hit 3 different brush piles in 10-12 ft and picked up a few nice ones.

Nothing huge. Water was 85 degrees, and relatively clear. Lots of baitfish all over and mullet.

Looks like several nice fish. I?m starting to think Houston River has more crappie than bass.

Nice catch. Calcasieu has finally cleared enough to see foot of trolling motor in water. Foot or more visibility.
