Default Dirty water and wind?

Before anyone reads this and thinks *** remember I am new-ish to the salt water world....haha.

As I was fishing today and striking out on various plastic lures, shrimp, squid, croaker, mullet, and chicken (I got board/kids idea) I couldn't help but think about the conditions and where I went wrong. I was at the Jetties in Cameron, usually I at least catch a hand full of gaf tops to fry but today I sucked (which is rare for me at the Jetties). I have struck out before but I made the drive knowing the conditions were bad and I would leave empty handed.

I would guess my chances would have been best in a boat today, I could have used my Humminbird to my advantage. Watching the tide reports and the weather I was sure I would get something. Although I have never fished that area where the conditions were good but the water looked like chocolate milk. Any tips for that situation?

Yeah man. Sorry about your bad day. But, when the ship channel gets a big flush like that, this time of year, you really need your boat. Seek out the corners of the estuary that don't receive as much flow. They won't be so turbid. The fish are all still there, you've got to have the flexibility to move to a spot where you can catch them. Sometimes, takes a lot of running. Thanks for your report.

thanks for report. i have started to learn a bit and agree with bobo that avoiding areas with big fresh water flows is best in those conditions. When i am in that situation and cant find anything, i can usually find some flounder or reds if i find steep dropoffs near moving water, either a drain or an exposed sheer vertical bank even if its only a foot or two
