Default 11-30-10 Pecan Island

Speckndasurf, a buddy, and myself went to our lease this morning and had a pretty good hunt. Wind was blowing 20-25mph and the ducks had a little trouble working. But we got some good ducks. Got a banded bw drake teal, 3 more teal, 2 mottle ducks, 2 greenheads, 1 grey, 2 spoonies and 2 big eagleheads. Then speckndasurf drops me and my buddy off cause we had to get to work and goes back to the blind. He shoots 3 more ducks, one of them a banded mottle duck! Maybe a black duck cause it is enormous. So we ended up getting 13 ducks and 2 geese and 2 bands. Going to Whiteville in the morning to my cousins lease to try and get on some specklebellies.

Good hunt. Seems the mallards are starting to show up. We killed two greenheads on FRI and one yesterday. Yesterday was weird in the rice fields....from shooting time to 6:40 I had 1 greenhead, 2 gw teal and 1 grey. From there, never fired another shot....

The good ole spoons. Only duck I rather shoot the hen than the drake.....gotta delete the population somehow. We have only shot 6-7 this year.....

Bout 3-4 years ago I shot a double banded mottle with $100 reward band, banded greenhead, banded woody, and a banded drake pintail all in one season! That's some luck.

4 bands this season or 4 bands accumulated? Either way its still good. I just have 1 ever. But in one season would be nuts.

I talked to a guy this morning when I was at physical therapy and he said the last 2 days they had started killing mallards and pintail's.....He was very happy to see some big ducks move in. They hunt in a marsh close to Grosse Savanne by Hebert's Landing.
