Default "ain't my rig"

Have you ever been on a #boat when a rod and reel were lost over the side?

Yep, cast and dropped a brand new rod and reel over the side. Drug for it for almost 2 hrs while my wife fished(and caught). Finally gave up when she reeled in string, it was from my rig I dropped over the side. Had to apologize to her for all the profanity.

My Dad has been having the same Penn rod and reel for 20+ years. He never passes up an opportunity to explain how much better made his reel was because it was so old. Every trip he would talk about how many fish that rod and reel have caught over the years. Honestly, that combo has outlasted many new Penn combos we have bought and worn out over the years.

While snapper fishing offshore last month my dad was fighting something pretty big with his prized fishing pole. Well just when Iit looked like he had the fish where he wanted it the fish made a run and my dad's drag was set too tight. The handle of his pole, which was made of wood, broke right below the reel and flew down into the deep blue. He quickly reacted and looked over the side of the boat but that thing was long gone!

I really felt bad for him. He laughed it off but I know he was bummed.

Dad flipped one of mine out in Hopedale a few years ago. He cursed himself and, I replied, "Well, I guess that makes us even on the graphite rod I broke of yours as a kid!" It was a good laugh for me, really.

Lost one but recover it when my buddy was reeling his line in. I Left my rod on the side of the boat while getting a drink out of the ice chest. All of a sudden a Huge red yanked it out the boat, all I saw was a big red jumping out the water and it was gone.

We've lost a few over the years. I've never lost one I was fishing, but guests on my boat have, and the children have dropped a few in while dock fishing.

Default Gulp Juice Is Slick

When using Gulp baits, be sure to wipe the liquid off your hands before you resume fishing. The stuff is very slick. I learned the hard way.

Something hit my bait at full speed and took my rod instantly out of my Gulp lubricated hand and into the lake. Fortunately I retrieved it with another rod. The fish was gone.

Down east rod holders are high end. We've lost many more rods from the dock than we have from the boat!

Bought my little one a backpacker fishing rod so he can fish off the dock with me on at a cabin we rented. He was good for all of 45 seconds, then he stood up and threw the damn thing in the water and turned back with the biggest smile ever. Funniest thing I've ever seen.

Had one similiar fishing with my dad and my two boys. Fishing for specks with artificial under cork when my youngest hooks his first fish on a "batman" pole. The poor little speck barely got the cork under water! So after all of the grunting and moaning to real this 8" speck in, it gets next to the boat and he goes" Gawwwww...look how big that fish is daddy and proceeded to throw his new "batman" rod & reel at the fish.

My dad an i were dying laughing as we watched the cork slowly move away. Once the bite finished, we proceeded to go grab the cork and recover batman and fish!
