I got a wench on my Big Red. Hook it to the front of the trailer, tighten it up, set park brake and roll.

Use ratchet straps, not the pull down straps.

When I was trailering the Rhino, I would use a ratchet strap across the back end pulling the UTV towards the rear of the trailer. Then I would use the winch cable to the front of the trailer and suck down the front. Never had an issue!

Also, make sure the straps are not rubbing on an edge that will fray or cut them.

Spend the money on some good straps. Most of the regular sized straps from Wal Mart and Academy suck. They rot fast and can bust easy. We mounted boat wenches on both our trailers and use that to secure our 4wheelers. Back 4 wheeler on trailer all the way to the front and put hook on hitch and wench tight

I bought but have yet to install them but I have some recessed "D" rings that bolt to the floor. I'm gonna put one in front and one in back of each tire and pull the strap over the top of the tires on my golf cart. I have the same problem with it coming loose. I only use ratchet straps and they still come loose.

This is what I do with my father-in-law's Ranger and have never had an issue. I just pass the back strap around the ball on the hitch pulling towards the back of the trailer.

Remember you need two straps minimum to haul anything on a trailer, a winch cable around the front of the trailer can get you a ticket if thats all you have. I would put at least 2 straps to be legal and secure.
I learned this while taking my CDL. The law states all loads under 10' must have a minimum of 2 straps, over 10' it has to have a strap at least every 10'. |

![]() Your welcome, you might not get pulled over for it, but if some jackleg pulls out in front you and the 4 wheeler comes flying off and hurts someone or destroys someone property, you going to have a tough time fighting it court if you only had it tied down with one strap. |

You need good straps. Cheaper straps are just not adequate. It amazes me that people will spends thousands of dollars on a atv/utv and use mickey mouse straps.

It may also help to tie it down below the suspension so it doesn't bounce and cause the strap or tie down to get loose

A common mistake I see is people not securing the excess slack of the ratchet straps. There is 10' of the strap flying in the breeze. As soon as it gets under a tire at 60 mph, snap goes the strap and the load. It kills me to take a 30' foot strap and cut down to 10' but I don't have all that extra strap to deal with. My Kaw Mule weighs close to 1100 # and have never had it move an inch. I also screwed 2 x 4"s to the bed of the trailer that 'cradle' the front tires when loaded.
