Default Boat trailer help

I traded for a boat in September of last yr. The boat trailers vin tag got torn or came off. I can't find a vin anywhere else on the trailer. The trailer came from Alabama where they don't title trailers.

Without a vin of some sort the troopers office won't inspect it so I can get a title for it.

Has anyone ran into this kind of deboggle beofore?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Scrap it.

Are you sure the vin isn't stamped on the tongue? Sometimes they are hard to see.

Unless I'm not seeing something. There's stuff there but nothing like a vin. Stuff about the hitch and what not

And stamp what number on there? It wasn't ever titled bc Alabama doesn't title trailers. So I have no plate to trace the vin. I thought bout stencils... My next thing to do is possibly go "homeade"

Scrap it? Then what? I gotta boat sitting on the ground. I guess I could get money at scrap yard then buy another trailer... Hmmmm

No. I just figured the vin would be there at trade. Didn't notice it had no vin until I was trying to find it for physical inspection by dot

if you don't know the vin and it was never registered in alabama, make up one and/or call it homemade.

You can't just make up a vin. The state will assign one if it's homemade.

Who ever you bought it from should have had it registered with their court house which would intern be able to get you the papers needed to register it here in Louisiana. .. This is how it works transferring one from Texas to Louisiana

They have absolutely no way of league legally identifying a trailer in Alabama?.... think I need to make a trip over there to round up some trailers for scrap iron

As per Alabama DMV... you might want to call

Part of the process was getting a document signed saying they don't title trailers in Alabama on DMV letterhead . I got it I'll post it in a sec

Wasn't trying to start nothing, if you got papers that you know we're done right that's cool.... I was just making sure someone didn't stiff you with a trailer and told you a lie about their laws.... no need to post the paper
