Default Mako boats
Anyone have any experience or know anything about the newer model mako boats? I have heard a lot about them having problems with the caps on the hulls, however I don't know if there is any truth to this. Thanks in advanced for any info.

Not sure haven't ever heard anything bad about them really. However, I think there are better options out there. I looked at them a couple of years ago when looking for a new boat but I went with something else.

sorry for the limited info, was just kind of looking at the 18 and 21 lts the two inshore models

I have a friend with a 18 LTS, 90hp Optimax. Nice little boat, doesn't take chop well, but should serve you well. There are better choices but probably not at the price point. If you fish a lot and fish Big Lake often or go off-shore I wouldn't go smaller than 22ft. If you are an occasional "office fisherman" like most of us, should be fine

I have an 18 LTS with the 115 Optimax. I don't have many hours on it (under 30) but I haven't had any issues with the boat. I'm having an issue with porpoising while trying to trim but I'll get that fix with a prop change hopefully. As for as the cap, hull or finish I can find any problems.

yeah, I am just a weekend fisherman and I dont plan to do any offshore fishing. Just mainly fishing BL and am in need of something that can run across the lake. Its still a little while till I am ready to buy, but it will be my first boat and Im trying to learn what I can before I purchase. My favorite boats are the haynie z21's and the blazer bay 2170s, however I am trying not to spend more than 30k. I have found a few blazers and pathfinder that I like for that price range, but they are all older boats (2004-2009 range) and I dont know if I am better off getting something newer. My main concern is getting something that is reliable and wont be an endless fight. Thanks for the help and responses they are apprecaited.
