motor trouble

started havin a problem with my boat motor yesterday... 76 model 70 evinrude... take off from the ramp and everything is fine. ride for about 15 minutes and its like its starvin for fuel.... i slack off to just before idle for a few hundred yards and i can take off again... i think it might be a coil pack. anybody got any ideas?

Check the cheap stuff 1st! Sounds like it may be sucking air. Check fuel line, fuel line connections & Bulb 1st. Check any filters also

Sounds more like a fuel problem. My experience with power packs has been when they go out the motor will run fine until you turn the motor off. Then good luck getting it started. You may want to check your fuel line for an air leak.

Check fuel vent

check all fuel filters... mine did the same thing but i have a 200hp johnson... there is (on mine) an inline fuel filter.... was clogged worse than a sewer drain

On this model motor, it could be a busted diaphragm in the fuel pump.

checked all that stuff yall said as far as suckin air... i was squeezin the bulb with the cover off and heard some squishin... looked like the gas was comin out where the hose goes into the fuel pump... gonna have to wait till monday to get another diaphragm

If the leak is where it connects to the fuel pump.......that sounds like the hose is bad, not the diaphram inside the pump.

If so, cut off the bad part of the hose and reconnect it. You should be good to go after that.

hey yall i got it workin... the fuel lines from the plug to the pump were 3/8 i put some 5/16 hoses on it wit some new clamps and presto!!!! thanks again for all yall help!!! sometimes i get to mad and forget the little fixes

Aqua.......I had a small hose on my truck (Diesel) leaking coolant & it was in a baaaadddd spot, hard to get to. I called everywhere looking for this small hose, couldn't figure what it was even called. Bout drove myself insane trying to figure out how to change it...working out of town at that. Saw a mechanic shop on the way back from work. Pulled in & showed the guy & asked if he could change the hose or if he could even find one, cause aint found crap! He looked at me & asked...."Have tried tighting that hose clamp sure enough the clamp was loose! I felt like a freaking idiot!!!!!!!!!
