Default Auto bildge pump problem.

Walked outside this morning heard something running in my boat. It was the auto bildge pump. No water in boat, its covered. Why would my auto bildge bump be working backwards. When the float is down its running. If I push it up it cuts off?

at least you found it before you had a dead battery and burned up the pump

That sounds like the On/off float switch is shorted.

If it is possible, try to look at the switch to see if it is corroded and maybe you can clean it.

You could try reversing the wires....as a temporary fix?

Do you really need an "Auto" type pump? Most fishing trips, I never turn on my bilge pump.

Default Sump pump

Lawrence,

If you have 4-5 years on the deck sump pump then that's probably a good thing.
I have owned a 2012 Frontier 2104 for 15 months and have replaced the sump pump 3 times. The float switch tends to fail on the attwood pump installed on that deck. There is a pump made by Johnson that seems more heavy duty.

Same here Lawrence, but my problem was that the float would stick in the up (on) position and I would have to remove the inspection plate to tap on the pump to get it to shut off. I finally replaced it with another and no problems so far.

my sump pump did this and it was due to some bait/trash holding the float up. I removed the cover and sprayed the water hose and it dislodged it.
