Lawn mower advice
I will be in the market for a new mower very soon and looks like ive narrowed my choices down to either a gravely or bad boy. Im sure most of yall have more experience with gravely than bad boy but i would appreciate any and all opnions. Thanks

First of all, thanks for all the feedback so far guys. I'm looking at 60'' residential in the bad boy. The gravely im looking at is also residental but is a 52'' and comes with a 24 hp kawasaki and the bad boy comes with a 27 hp kohler. As far as price range id like to keep it under $6,000 and both are close to that. They sell bad boy here in lafayette at Congress Outdoor Power Equipment and the gravely i looked at was at Southland on Jonston street. After tax and everything the Gravely is $6,046.92 & the Bad Boy is $5,398.92

Not sure about either but, my Scag has done me well and, mower to mower, was about $2k less than the Bad Boy I looked at. Nothing special, just cost effective and quality.

My dad has a gravely and uncle has bad boy, both are nice but that bad boy is a hoss. I'm sure they would both let you test drive them as long as you did the whole yard!!!

We have had a gravely for probably 15 years and we cut around 2 acres at a time. Also use it to cut fencelines in the fields. Had to do some maintenance on it over the years but overall good mower. But if the service dept sucks at your local dealer I would go somewhere else.

Ain't that true with any mower? If I had enough grass to cut...I'd go with a Kubota diesel. |

Don't get me wrong, I have a Gravely and love it. I have the 144z from their professional line. It works fine and cuts great. We have put about 250 hours on it in the past 9 or 10 years and it still looks brand new. The Scag mowers are excellent mowers also.
Good luck in your search! Much like rods and reels, everybody likes the one they have. +1 |

I have had 4 commercial ztr mowers and the best I ever owned were my Kubota machines, one was a 48" with gas engine and other was 60" with diesel engine.... others were Dixie Chopper- trash in my opinion and Toro which was decent and I have put close to 4000 between all these.

I have had the Gravely ZT 48 XL for 2 years and so far no troubles. I love the 23 horsepower Kawasaki on it. Got a buddy who has the Bad Boy and he loves it. Either way you cant go wrong

My neighbor has a Gravely that is less than a year old and the paint is flaking off the frame and deck. He takes very good care of his mower and does not abuse it. BMC didn't act too enthusiastic to help him. Gravely rep is supposed to be in town soon to look at it.
