Where did you see it at? It does resemble a red corn, and they do occur in southeast Louisiana, so I'm curious why you think its out of its range.

New Orleans. LDWF indicates Florida parishes and over towards Lafayette.

That's a pretty corn snake. I think your location is within its known range. But if it was found in an urban area, they are also a popular pet species and it could have been released or escaped.
