Engineered Wood Flooring - Float or Glue?

I'm replacing carpet with 3/8" engineered wood in my bedrooms and am debating on whether to glue it to the concrete or float it. Also debating on whether to do it myself or pay someone $1.75-$2.00/sqft.

If I do it myself it should be much easier to float, but is is it worth it?

Should glue down myself, or just pay someone to glue it?

I don't like the hollow feel of a floating floor, but don't know if potential buyers will care. And at least with a floating floor they can replace it much easier if they don't like it.

If it's real wood glue it. And it goes down really fast and easy.

Glue it and hire an installer. I just replaced all the floating wood in my house with glued. It's a world of difference.

Hire an installer and glue it. Have had the floating and the glued. Building now hope to have flooring going down at the end of the month. Going with glue down reclaimed this time.

Use a high quality glue like bostiks best .

About to do three bedrooms with 1/2" engineered prefinished. With glue and install fee, I'm at about $10 a square foot.

We going with vinyl wood look planks that glue down and hiring an installer. I wanted to do it myself (its easy) but the wife doesnt want.

I'd like to bring this up for followup... I put mine in a few years back...all the info then said float it on top of that thin pad that goes down first. Mine is a raised Acadian style house, subfloor is that MSD or glued fine sawdust plywood sized stuff, whatever that is called.

I thought it had to 'move' due to humidity changes and such? I hate this floating, constantly have to slide boards tiny amounts, plan to carefully apply glue sparingly and push them tight. Oh well...

I literally took these pics a few minutes ago and was searching for the thread to post an update.

Cormier's flooring started at 0945 today and finished all 3 rooms by 1530 - glued down with Bostik.

They'll finish the quarter round in the morning.

I had it removed before they came.

Bought the floors on tax free weekend and talked him down to below $2.00 on the wood itself.

I must not understand the process. What wood did you buy for below $2.00?

do the floors you bought on tax free weekend require a layer of wood below them? I thought they were glued down to the slab.

2$-wood
1$-glue
3$-install

Sorry guys, the floors were just below $3.00, I accidentally hit the 2 when I typed it.

Pox is right, just swap the price for install and floors. Install was $2.00/sqft and floors were a little below $3.00/sqft, plus the glue and quarter round which I bought myself and had waiting for the installers when they got here.

They were glued straight to the slab
