Default Capitalization

A Friend sent me this, think I might have seen it before, but thought it might be important to share

In the world of hi-tech gadgetry, I've noticed that more and more
people who send text messages and emails have long forgotten the
art of capital letters. For those of you who fall into this category, please take note of the following statement:

"Capitalization is the difference between helping
your Uncle Jack off a horse and helping your uncle jack off a horse."

Is everybody clear on that?

Uncle is not a pro noun and should not be capitalized.

However the message is a damn good one.

All it takes is a quick read on Facebook to realize grammar and spelling are something many people have a lot of trouble using correctly.

Uncle is a title when used with a name, similar to Dr. Smith. Doctor is not capitalized when used as a noun but is when used as a title. Same with uncle versus Uncle Jack.

And I don't understand your reference to pronouns, as pronouns (they, he, she, we) aren't capitalized.

Lesson over.

I meant proper noun (my bad)
I looked up the whole used as a title part and I stand corrected the author of the thread was correct. Turns out I have been doing that wrong for years and spell check does not catch that.
Just goes to show that we could all use some refreshers on the English language from time to time, Or is it Thyme W?

So if you helped Uncle (capitalize use here) Jake on the horse , would you help Uncle Jack off the horse?
