Default Super Day

One Eye Ed asked me to run with him today. We had a trip for Super Strike Charters. We managed to turn it into a Super day. We started out trying for wahoo. The water color had changed from yesterday but the water temp was good so we gave it a shot. Nothing to start with. As we worked our way around and further out the water color got good but still not even a mark on the sonar. It was time for a decision. Ed and I talked about our options and I told him about yesterday at the Lump. Although only 1 & 1/2 tuna yesterday we marked a lot and we knew the water was still good. As we approached the lump we dragged baits around 143. We marked hooters but they were not interested. Ed had me drop a jig down on their head. I got a sniff and both assist hooks were bit off. Never felt anything. Had to be a wahoo. Threw on another assist hook but the fish had moved for some reason and we gave up on them. It is already 11:00 so "Time to get dirty".

These guys were from western Tenn. Only 1/2 of them had been here before. To all of them this day was to be something they had never experienced before. Our first drift at the lump was action right away. We were running 3 lines and marking well. Although only bonito and a few sharks it was ideal to get them into the program. They learned guickly and well. On our second drift as I was trying to cut bait, chum, and take off a bonito I ask Ed to check out the guy in front. I am pretty sure he has a good one on his line. It acted like a tuna but it was running high near the surface as a shark does. Soon we had our answer and the ice was broken with this beauty.

We went back and started another drift. Another yellowfin takes our bait. This fish is kicking the guy's butt. Turns out to be the smallest of the day but still a keeper. The guy admitted he got whipped by the little tuna. In his defence this tuna made several runs and refused to give up without a good fight. May have been trying to get away from a shark while hooked up to our line. We had our drift set now so after every fish we would go back up and start again. Our 3rd yellowfin is also a good one.

The action came on every drift. We were on target with the fish today.

All except the first which was the biggest and the second yellowfin all the rest were carbon copy fish.

With 6 in the boat we are almost ready to head to the barn but as I am cleaning up the boat we set the lines out one more time. Look who came to visit.

After the riding this guy got from us all day for getting whipped by a small tuna he had a chance to redeem himself. Being fresh out of battle he still was not revived enough to hold up his trophy.

It was now time to head in and have a fish cleaning party. Today was one of the better days I have had in a while. With all the fronts running through it has been hard to get any type of a pattern on the fish. I will say even though every time out has been a challenge the fish are comming to the cleaning table on a regular basis. We still have to wait for a cart to unload our fish.

It is now classic Venice picture taking time.

That is where they store that boat. Used for research I believe.

Performance is outstanding and a fast economical boat. When he gets it built have it designed for his needs. If he gets to the factory tell Scott Hoop said Hellow.

Thanks for the info. He already has it designed and ordered. We went ride in one the other day with a guy named Winston, from Ponchatoula, he keeps his boat in Laplace so we went ride in Pontchartrain and it was glass out there so it was just a ride. He fishes out I'd grand isle..
