Default Making the first trip to Toledo since we got our boat......Need some advice

My wife and I are spending the last week of May at South Toledo Bend a State Park. We've had our boat for months now and we're pretty comfortable with it now ( lots of river fishing and one trip to Caney). We're going to be child free and want to try and get some quality fishing in while we're there.

Any pointers ?

Thanks in advance,

if it's crappie your after long line troll the weedlines around the islands in anywhere from 8-16 feet of water... once you find the right depth stay on it

Use 1/8 or 1/16 oz jig with curl tail or paddle tail crappie grubs. white & chart, black & chart are both good bets.

Bass ... i can't help ya on.

End of May = Summertime Patterns for bass. Find drop offs or grass lines in 15-30 ft of water for bass. Fish should be schooling so find grass near deep water. Go to Buck creek or one of the lower texas side creeks near the state park.

If you are on the south end during the day go out in front of the dam and find you some humps with depthfiner and either put in gps or mark with bouy. Go back around 8 pm and fish til you stop catching. I have had awesome success with a 10 inch black worm throwing on highest point of hump and dragging back to boat. The humps can range anywhere from 4 feet deep to 10 feet and fall very fast to 30 feet. Enjoy
