I don't see many fishermen since Rita and Ike down there.
You cannot park between the Gibstown Bridge and Creole.
Just before Ike, they were catching Reds in the canal, but not bass.
I have a friend who crabs in that canal. He is catching good crabs.

back when we did it we would park off the road for the boat launch for the burns and walk way down there to wear the water started and start fishing then one of us would get the truck on the way out, we always made a tournament out of it and who ever caught the least amount of fish had to get the truck.

You can still park on that side road. You just cannot park on the side of the highway.
State posted signs there.

Is the Gibbstown bridge the big tall one that crosses the Intracoastal Canal?

Between Creole and Sweetlake.

I'd be surprised if there are any bass on the West side of the highway for a few more years. The other side might have a few.

I work down here below the Gibbstown bridge at the Apache plant. I haven't caught any bass, but I did catch some nice bluecat this week in our loadout slip and in the Intercoastal. When is a good time to start crabbing down in this area? Might pick up a couple of crab traps.

I talked to a friend who still lives in Creole yesterday. There are no Bass on the West side of the road and haven't caught any on the East side of the road in the Burns yet, but he said they might come spring time.
Water is fresh and they are seeing come Garfish in the big canals in the Burns. There are crabs in the Creole Canal right now between the little salt water barrier and Hwy 82 right now, but they are slow.
The Cats in the ICW means there are Bass also. And they will eventually move into the Burns. The West side of the hwy is a different story. It will take a while to get them to move on to that side of the road.
