Default The bog one that got away

I lost the biggest trout I have ever seen today.
Fishing the causeway with my family I left my fishing rod secured.
I was fishing the pilings with my daughters little egg beater bass pro combo strung with spider wire(no not power pro).
I had a nice 22-23 inch trout on the line when she spit the new penny gulp out at the boat.
Real quick like a dark shadow emerged from under my boat.
I saw the flash of the white mouth and the bait dissappear.
I let her take the whole bait into her mouth before setting the hook.
I didn't even see he rwhole body before she took the lure.
I fought that fish for three min. and two missed nettings.
Several times I had her on her side beside my boat where I have stik on measuring tapes.
My measuring tapes measure 34 inches and this fish was about 3 inches shy of the tape.
When I had her sideways she was about 10 inches wide.
I wish I could have landed her but she finally shook free.
I was upset but my whole family was there to see her sevral times and that fish is all they have been talking about since we got off the water.

Yeah,we all got to see it several times.
I'll tell you what.
Those causeway trout have the biggest bellys right now.
The ones we kept were so full fat and they were only about 2 1/2 - 3 lbs.
Anyway,it was a good mothers day for the wife.
