Default What more common

just curious what is more common in the Cameron area, a redhead or canvasback? My son just killed one of the two and not sure how to tell which one it is??? Thanks, when he sends me pic I will post it...

Canvasback will have a red eye, whereas the Redhead will have a golden eye. Also, Redhead will have a blue bill, black bill on the Canvasback.

OK, thank you very much. I am fairly certain it is a redhead now. med size with blue bill and golden eye. If I could figure how to post pic I would.... sorry

IMO the Redheads are more common. Actually this year we have a lot of them but no Cans yet.

Redheads can't resist decoys, suicide ducks.

Canvasback is a big heavy bird.

Killed both on the opener in GC. 4 cans 1 red. Those cans make a BIG splash!

Yep, unfortunately for us the Redheads have been grouped up with Scaup. The complete opposite end of the table fare spectrum compared to Cans.
