#1 Keep them cool.....adding some Ice don't hurt if the waters are kind of warm.....Lots of oxygen ..... Also get them to the weight in station ASAP for the best results....

The cooler the water the better they will live!!! Being in March waters should be real favorable for trout to survive in the live well...

Jason this is a good topic....Thanks for bring it up..... Remember for the Saltycajun tournment we will take the names of everyone who weights a live trout to be released.... and enter it in a drawing for a 7ft Falcon rod with 200E7 Curado....Plus other things as welll......... Package is worth around $400

I like to run my Live well more often than what timer goes! Also make sure my live well is clean before I go fishing because mildo can grow from the water left Inside from ur last trip!

Just my opinion, live wells make noise. Less noise more fish.

putting ice in your live well will dilute the saltwater, i freeze bottles of water and put one in everyso often to cool the water down. a clean live well, and cool water your set and a goo air pump or recirc.

Default Peroxide

A capful of peroxide will do wonders to help revive a fish that looks like she wants to go belly up. It will help recharge the O2 in your livewell.

I must have been lucky at the shootout last June, no ice, and I had my hands on the fish working him from west cove to CP and released alive.

use a boga to handle the fish - no hands and no "w" towel. prevents loss of slime...

to be honest, with a 3 trout string, most will die by the time they are weighed in.

i wouldn't feel guilty about it, think about how many STAR kills each year. lol

oh, i agree bruce but i think if someone catches a hog, they should stop and run in ta give it the best chance ta be released(thats if the team members wanna release em alive)

If I were to catch a hog I would stop fishing to go weigh it !
Now for the tourny does all 3 fish have to be weighed alive to be entered into the drawing?

i have found that the W's will live a while in a cold livewell, the bigger fish just need more room to float and once they turn sideways it's tough to keep them green.
