Default Cameron Boat Launch

Is the ferry launch in good shape and able to handle larger bay boats? I've never launched there and it seems like I remember someone saying it was pretty sloppy.

ok are you talking the ferry launch on the west side near the ferry loading or the Cameron peir boat launch on the east side ? I launched at the west side ferry launch twice last year its in good shape, just not a big dock, but big enough

the east side launch is fine. I launch there a few times a year. Its down closer to the jetties than the ferry

West side is nice if it's open. I seem to remember that DOTD is using an alternate ferry vessel and the west side ramp is closed while it is in operation. Maybe someone local can advise better as to that status.

The east side on Davis Rd isn't as nice but you should be able to launch a bay boat without any issues.

I drove down to the East launch about two weeks ago just to check it out and its in good shape and has a pretty big parking area.

Thanks guys, I prefer using the west side since I'll be staying around holly beach at some point.

Don't mind ferrying across though

Once the seaweed gets going in the spring, the ramp can get covered in vegetation. Bringing a rake or hoe makes it easier to move out of your way for launching. If you back down over the seaweed, you can get stuck. Take the extra five minutes and clear the seaweed.

Also before you launch, look up and down the channel for any big crew boats. They can put up a fairly big wave and move a lot of water which can bang your boat against the dock.

Default Cameron Boat Launch

How about the hog island launch where everyone crabs? Deep enough for a bat boat to get out to west cove

Hog island dumps into the ship channel. There is a cut into WC but I was told it is too shallow

There are two launches that dump into west cove. I THINK hog island is the one to the north. And the other just says "west cove launch" on my map.

The fairly ramp and hog island gully, closed. Went by both of them today.
West cove ramp is nice on both sides depending on where you want to go
