Does anyone know if you can put in between the bridges? I know it was closed a few weeks ago.

These pictures were taken May 31, 2011. I don't know if the road is open [see pic of temp. level] or if the Henderson area is open for fishing.

They put that wall up so the rest area buildings would not flood. I don't understand why they did not open it yet. The water has gotten higher during previous spring time floods. Maybe they are worried about the backwater flooding, who knows.

We went saturday and sunday. Caught 26 bull bream and chinquapin saturday and 38 sunday. Had to really move a lot to find them. We were able launch at Butte La Rose, but my brother-in-law went today and couldn't because the hyacinths were so thick. He had to go the private landings in henderson and come around. The cut-through to get to I-10 in the boulevard past Kern's is also blocked with hyacinths as is the canoe trail to get from the boulevard to the dog leg. Won't be able to fish the south flats much longer. Tried also to get to the bar pits along the east side but couldn't. Heard great reports from Cow Island, if you want to fight the boat traffic. As the water continues to drop, the fishing is only going to get better. We kept only the biggest fish and threw back at least double that. Great day on the water - just HOT!!! Fish seemed to bite better after 1:00. Good luck!!

Sacalait being caught in cow island. We didn't go because there were too many people. Potlickers aren't just found on big lake!! lol. The conditions with the hyacinths change by the day, so you may be able to fish somewhere one day and catch like crazy, but not be able to get near there the next. I do have to say that the fish are bigger than I've seen them in a while!!
