Default Primative Arms season

As all of us know deer season is around the corner. I enjoy my traditional .45 hawken but have obtained a single shot .44 magnum rifle. I even think it would fit perfect for a kid to use and recoil is not bad. Does anyone use a single shot .44 instead of the 45/70? I was also wondering what loads other use and the performance?

Buffalo Bore makes some really heavy loads in .44mag. I think all of their stuff is loaded with a hard cast bullet. Winchester also has a .44mag load specifically designed for hunting.
