Heading over to Orange Beach for a few days. Anyone ever do any surf fishing around there? Any tips?

We have a condo in the caribe resort and I always bring my fly rod and a rod and reel with me to fish the beach down the road.. If you fish early you can catch a few different fish in the surf... Use mostly swim baits with rodnreel

I just came back from Gulf Shores this afternoon.
The Sand Trout hit pretty good in the mornings on the beaches.
There are Reds at the passes, but there are so many boats and people, I didn't mess with them.
In the evenings, the Ladyfish take over.
Lots of bait along the shoreline. Especially Pogy.
I used topwater with no luck. Most were caught on opening night Sand Eel Jr.s.

Default fishing

A couple of weeks ago at the state pier. First 2 hours of morning kings were being caught at end of pier with a couple of spanish and sharks. enough action to keep you interested. Catch your own sardines right there for bait live or dead freelined. cast out and wait. or saw some guys throwing big diving baits with a steady retrieve to catch some.

And after you hook one holler gaff and someone will hook you up. Give your fish to them for helping as a nice gesture. Funny seeing them try to stuff a 25 lb king in a 36 qt ice chest.
