Smokin Lafitte 7/10/10

Went down to Lafitte for first time. Put in at c&m. No problems there . Went down towards little lake and tried fishing..wow grass everywhere. No salinity at all. Started to cross little lake to go further south. Just islands of grass on east and west side. West side alot worse. Threw back some undersized reds . Ran to the pen to see what thats all about. Kinda cool clear water but no bites. Ran south just sight seeing . Talked to WLF bioligist doin survey and he was tellin me salinity very far down even on backside grande isle. No fish being caught right now due to so much fresh water. I like lafitte, beautiful place but no fish right now. Wife enjoyed running and seeing a new place I enjoyed just beeing on water. I need to concentrate on gettin ready for hunting season and some work stuff comin up this month so I guess maybe Ill plan somethin next month. Maybe I'll go back down to buras and help my friends rescue some trout. They have been rescueing 15-20 a person each trip so far so Ill work my way further south next time.

Default Lafitte

If you're looking for trout, forget about Lafitte! LDWF opened up the Davis Pond diversion and it flooded the system with fresh water.

On the other hand, if you're looking for reds and bass, you were in the right place. We've been limiting out on reds every trip for the past few weeks and have been catching some good bass in between the reds.

I was out there this past weekend too, Sat & Sun. For some reason, Saturday was a lot tougher to fish than Sunday.
