Default Advice on brushing a blind

Aight, 1st off lemme say that this blind is rocking a gangster lean and seems way too tall. It also isn't finished, gonna go straighten it out on LSU's bye week. Now that we have that out of the way, lemme ask you this: Do you think the natural vegetation around it will die when the winter weather gets here?

A buddy of mine thinks yes, I think no, and no one can really give me a 100% answer. I'm sure someone on here has hunted some freshwater lakes with this in it somewhere. The background plant is kind of like switch cane and the front plants are similar to the greenery around cat tails.

Simply want to know if I should focus on the tan color of dead grass like the marsh or focus on the green of whats there now. Going to be relying on the natural brush a good bit to conceal this monster of a blind.

ETA: this pic was taken with an old phone, sorry for the quality. I didn't think about this until recently and if I would have known I would have brought my phone out there to get a better pic.

gonna take alot of rozos to hide dat ting. Might wanna bring in big wax myrtle first. They hold their leaves even after they turn brown, and then fill in with the rozos.

How does the rozo handle the winter? Gonna keep its color? Trying to decide if I should cut and brush now or wait closer to opening day so it won't stick out more than it already will. If it all turns brown i'm good to go, if its gonna stay green around the blind i'ma have to re-think it.

Gonna build a dog ramp that goes across the front from a perch on one corner. Gonna be one long ramp for the ole girl.

Im not asking if the stuff ima cut will turn brown. I want to know what the junk around the blind is gonna do later in the season, so i can brush accordingly.

yeah its 8' from the floor boards to the bottom. figure a ramp with two 8' sections and a platform in the middle won't be too bad on her.

That monstrosity is going to stickout like a sore thumb no matter what you use. I would cut it down, close it in, wrap fassgrass and fillin with native grass(ziptie). As it is, you have a full day just to grass/cane ahead of you.

To me, your blind is to close to the water (should be further in the grass) and too high. We have a set up something like yours (marsh with box blind) and my uncle brushed it this weekend with fast grass. I will post pics for you to see when I get back from SC on Fri.

Knock it down 5 feet and use fastgrass. Do NOT plant roseau cane (Phragmites) in there! You will regret it.

First the obvious - Blind height: I am assuming you built the blind that high is due to water level fluxuation. So I would cut some small trees or long branches and place around the back and sides of the blind to break up the outline of the square blind. If water does not fluxuate, then lower it. As for the native vegitation, yes it will die to some extent. Wrap the blind with chicken wire. Then brush with fast grass or equivalent. After fast grass is in place, ad fillers like cane or any of the native growth in the area. Personally, I do not think it is so important to match blind color for native vegitation color exactly. Next time you are running the marsh or where ever you are, look at the different shapes/colors that occur naturally in the wild. Main thing is to make the blind look natural and like it belongs there.
