I would go farther back into the natural grass, not out in the pond itself.
Cane will take over the pond, specially if you ever have a drought. Drought
makes cane run wild around ponds and eventually take over.

This is a joke, isn't it? If you can tell it is a blind from 100 yds. away then you are doin something wrong! Ducks are hard enough to kill without giving them an advantage. Cut the blind down, put the boat hide in the back low enough to shoot over and use salt grass to cover it. DO NOT USE ROSEAU CANE! Nothing can ruin a blind quicker.

I know putting trust in someone like that isn't a great thing but from what I saw during teal season we're gonna be ok. Woodies like nuts and a small number of big ducks buzzed the area.

ETA: this isn't marsh, its freshwater, thats why I wanted to know what these plants were gonna do with the winter. I know everything in the marsh pretty much dies, never hunted fresh.
Check out the article in the Nov issue of "Louisiana Sportsman" that is titled "Mastering the Marsh". Capt Himel seems to agree with me and Raymond. Let us know how your season worked out with the Big Bertha blind.
