Where around the Lake Charles area can I have my GPS repaired?

The display is barely visible. When I turn it on, Garmin is bright for a second than blacks out.

Send it back to Garmin, go to the website and they will give you the exact directions for sending it back. I have had good luck with there customer service.

That really sounds like you have the screen brightness turned down. What model Garmin do you have? Try hitting your power button once. This should allow you to adjust your brightness. You may have to put a coat or something to block out excess light to see your screen.

Garmin has a huge problem with there screens going dim or out, I have sent mine in twice for dim screen.

Marque, I have adjusted the brightness and it doesn't change.

I have the 541S

I would send it back to Garmin for repair and then sell it. Get a Lowrance they are proven.

I had a lowrance and it lasted about 6 months.

Same exact one I have, I have been through two of them and both times this has happen was during warm days. Rep said this has been a common thing down south. He also tried to get me to update to the new units saying this problem has been corrected, but I stayed with the 541S.

Hummingbird . . They don't mess around . . Screen went dim , sent it in . . Acknowledged their faulty assembly, fixed it, upgraded software, and I had it back in 6 days . . Great service . .
