Default 8-30-18 Evening On Calcasieu

Fished from 430-715 this evening on 3-4 holes. Must of got some rain somewhere up north cause that water was cruising along the main river channels. Only want the bigger ones now so didn't even try bays and cuts. Between the current and tree tops I'd say they likly won today. Boxed 10 Crappie and one nice channel cat. Released 7-8 smaller ones. They would of kept too. Many many many wrapped me up and I must of popped line or straightenhook out 20 times today. It's aggravated but only way to learn how to fish each top is to do it. Current player huge part. Caught a rat red up north further than I ever have before. Watermelon bay I caught 8-10 mostly in a couple years but today I pulled a dozen Crappie off this one hole then caught this rat red. It was dark sky from thunderhunds but I thought it was a bass pealing drag out towards middle on top water. Cork 6 1/2 feet up and red out there on top water lol. Didn't know for sure til it hit the floor. Tough evening but still caught and found a new hole. Only pic is the red my buddy wanted the Crappie.

Good trip. I saw fish chasing shrimp last weekend in watermelon bay. Caught a few small bass because the shrimp gave them away lol.
